Race Results 8/27 & 8/28/2010

by David Castile

The featured events of the 2 day meet were the USCS Winged Outlaw Sprints. Just a comment that I have been watching this group for years, and they have progressed into a group with a field of very fast sprints with lap times in the area of 12.3 seconds around the high banks of New Senoia. They are so fast and quick that I had a lot of trouble keeping up with them through the race and my report won't be as detailed as usual. We begin with Fri 8/27/2010 results.

The trophy dash was a flag to flag win for the #10 Terry Gray 2nd #07 Johnny Bridges Jr 3rd #47 Eric Riggins 4th #1X Matt Linder 5th #80 Morgan Turpen 6th #X Nick Bashford

Heat Race #1 was a flag to flag victory for #47 driven by 15 yr. old Eric Riggins 2nd #82 Sport Allen 3rd #10 W Mike Hampton 4th #25 Ray Bugg 5th #33 Joe Larkin

Heat Race #2 was led from the 2nd lap to win by 17 yr old Miss Morgan Turpen the USCS answer to Danica Patrick 2nd #4M Michael Miller 3rd #10 Terry Gray 4th #1A Lee Moore 5th #0X Clint Weiss

Heat Race #3  was led flag to flag by # 1X Matt Linder 2nd #07 Johnny Bridges, Jr. 3rd #X Nick Bashford 4th # 19 Jerry Jones 5th # 69 Brandon Rekow

The feature finish was 1st #10 Terry Gray 2nd #47 Eric Riggins 3rd #4M Michael Miller 4th #07 Johnny Bridges, Jr. 5th #24 Justin Carver 6th # X Nick Bashford 7th #25 Ray Bugg 8th # 69 Brandon Rekow 9th #1A Lee Moore 10th # 0X Clint Weiss 11th #1X Matt Linder 12th #80 Morgan Turpen 13th #21B Brandon McLain 14th #82 Sport Allen 15th #10 W Mike Hampton 16th #19 Jerry Jones 17th #33 Joe Larkin 18th #81 A. J. Maddox 19th #83 Bob Auld 20th #67 Jake McLain

Sat 8/28/2010 USCS follows:

Trophy dash 1st #10 Terry Grant 2nd #47 Eric Riggins 3rd #4M Michael Miller 4th #X Nick Bashford

First Heat Race was a flag to flag victory for #4M Michael Miller 2nd #10 Terry Gray 3rd # 10W Mike Hampton 4th #1X Matt Linder 5th #80 Morgan Turpen

Second Heat was another flag to flag win, this time for # 47, the flying 15 yr old Eric Riggins 2nd #X Nick Bashford 3rd #82 Sport Allen 4th # 07 Johnny Bridges, Jr.

Pandemonium struck in the feature when pole sitter #10 Terry Gray led the field into turn #1&2 and the rear axle on his car broke, sending him out of control, into the wall in the backstretch with almost the entire field ending up in a pile of bent and twisted metal with some upside down. Luckily, no one was hurt and the decision was made to drag the whole mess to the pits, and run some Senoia stock car races while the USCS Sprints were repaired by their pit crews.

When restarted after running a couple of Senoia stock car races 19 cars started and # X Nick Bashford  dominated till he lost a right rear tire in turn 1 and spun on lap 12. Finish was 1st #1X Matt Linder 2nd #47 Eric Riggins 3rd #10 Terry Gray 4th #80 Morgan Turpen 5th #25 Ray Bugg 6th#0X Clint Weiss 7th #10W Mike Hampton 8th #82 Sport Allen 9th #X Nick Bashford 10th# 4M Michael Miller
